::: New Jimmy Beaulieu art online
MG publisher Jimmy Beaulieu has just added 53 pages of sketches to his personal web page for your consideration. In a recent group mailing he asked if people thought it would be interesting to see a book of his sketches alone. I think if it were well curated and focused, a book if Jimmy’s personal, non-narrative art would probably be wonderful, ideally a full colour edition would be nice. Drop by his site and let him know what you think after taking a look.

PAUL HAS A SUMMER JOB is the latest arrival in our doorstep. Michel Rabagliati's sweet coming of age story has been getting a lot of new fans. This is a special book that seems to get people passing it around, saying You will love this. We¹ve got rave reviews from Alan David Doane, Chris Allen and Andrew Arnold on the web site, and they all agree that this book has some of the best storytelling comix seen in a while.
R. Crumb's latest collection of placemat drawings from France WAITING FOR FOOD arrived courtesy of Dutch publisher Oog & Blik and North American co-publisher D+Q. No word on how we'll be hyphenating this baby. These sketches were made on placemats in restaurants across Frances, where Crumb and his family have lived since the mid-1990s and themes of over-consumption, pop-consumerism and alienation pervade the drawings.
Also in stores over then next bit from D&Q: Berlin #10 by Jason Lutes, the latest chapter in his Berlin trilogy is in stores now. New in paperback this summer is Debbie Drechsler¹s Summer of Love, nominated for the Harvey for Best Graphic Novel. & Chester Brown’s Louis Riel will be available as a collected cloth book this September but in the mean time, you might fancy a T-shirt, released with the end of the series. Designed by Chester, the T-shirt features the cameo portrait featured on the cloth book and favorite panels on the back.
