3 am Wen night, going to bed early with a page done another on it's way, walking by the packed equipment and dismantled light table thinking nice thoughts of working in the new studio at my nice new desk in the morning. A good sleep and then at 10 am, wake with a urgent need to go to bathroom sort of feeling, by the time i'm there it's not a bathroom thing any more...wow, PAIN! MAJOR pain in spades....holy fucking Christ in a wobbly crunch! Hospital, tests and the invisible knife in my gut is suddenly pulled out and oh hey, you have a Gallstone. Not sure, must wait for tests, he's a needle in your arm and have a lay down over there on that gurney next to the homeless guy. Who even know he really does have some serious problems, is much more upset by being woken from really good "haven't sleep with clean sheets in way to long" naps and, 'could I just have a shower please? No? Why do I live on the street? Oh yah i have a room but I like to sleep on the streets'.
A.J. Hides, wisely most likely, in fear of the old guys furious itchings.
Late now and it’s off for painkillers and last nights work gains mostly lost, the desk is still dismantled in the hall. Grumble.
Gallstone
Ouch.

Following your referrals can always be fun :::
Found the Silent Army after they linked to the MMCJ. Cool site and I like what they are doing, very much my idea of what i want the MMJC site to do. Great name too, buggers thought of it first, rats. I know! Silent Invasion....no, that's been used.

T3: Rise of the Machines
If you have been reading this blog regularly you’ll know I’ve been spending my days for the last three weeks working on job for the Terminator franchise via Beckett Comics. The official news is out, so I’m free to give a few more details now. The book is one of two stories kicking off a new T3 based ongoing series. The series will function as a prequel of T3: Rise of the Machines, the soon to be released movie.
On my end of the job, I’m working with Goran Parlov (recently of Outlaw Nation) who’s refined drafting has been a pleasure thus far to work with, though the detailed rendering, sure to be a hit with the readers, is murder on my poor old mitts. Doing my Ti Chi and stretches lots to keep limber.
After I’m done with it the pages are going over to Paul Mounts (Ultimates) to be lavishly digitally painted. The end result is going to be mighty impressive I think. And though I often find it hard to tell standing in the midst of a job, so hard to see the forest from there… still I think the script by Ivan Brandon is shaping up to be a excellent read. If you’re a sci-fi /action fan this one will be a must have.
The other story being worked on right now is based directly on the movie, but as seen through the eyes of the badie, the T-X. A new Terminator model which goes up against Schwarzenegger’s Terminator in the film. The “Eyes of the Rise” is written by Miles (Bastard Samurai) Gunter, adapted from the film screenplay. Mike Hawthorne on Pencils (Grendel: Red, White, & Black), Inks by Rick Remender (Avengers). Colours will be by Paul Mounts and Matt Hollingsworth (Daredevil).
Stay tuned for publication info and some small sample of my inking (a panel here, a panel there, just to wet your appetite) gota go get inky now, that Goran, he’s a fast one.
By the way, if you’re wondering, my other stuff is still ongoing (PIN CITY, RISE & FALL, DREAMLIFE), work slows down a bit during ‘day jobs’, but I’ll be back at all that full time in a little over a month. Also keep an eye out for some rough work for a story titled Honolulu Lories Lava Love Lounge and Poodle Emporium, to be published in Legal Action Comics Vol2.

Needed a new light box for the T3 job...
...and a desk for my away from home studio that i'm seting up...
...So i converted an old small drafting table this week.
| Came out even better than I
had hoped, pictures don't do it justice. It’s all wood with an old wine box converted
for the side unit, and the wood tray is something I stumbled across on the street.
I’m in love : ) |
Basically its made with 1"x3" boards screwed in along the top and sides to make a wall, and then another set of boards attached to those around the outside, raised the same depth as the plexi glass layers to make an inset lip for the desk top to sit in. The top is two layers, one thin and opaque white, the other thick and clear for strength, so I can lean in on it without it bending. The desk I modified is a small [22”x31”] all wood drafting table.

Up to my tits in T3 inking i looked up at the TV long enough to catch my site announced as 'site of the week' on ZED TV. Eep! cool.
Yes, art junky is I. Hello, & if you’re here after seeing that, welcome and salutations. As Sharon suggested, this is a 'have a look around' sort of place. I have tendency to paper my studio walls with stuff (as well as the floor, chairs...everything) of my own concoction and others. My web space is much the same. Lots of different stuff to see here, and over on theMMCJ. If you want to leave me a message you can use the littel comenting link bellow.
Nice seeing ' When The Day Breaks' again, though the business about it taking that long to finish, only 5 min a year....makes me look at this sideways.

{ not } The Latest :: { originaly posted two weeks ago - but asside from the fact that i'm now quite busy doing the T3 gig, nothing much has changed }
Been having fun working on Pin City while a,j, brews up her novel in the other room, hiding from the sub zero chill in our cave scribbling on the walls. Got out for a walk today and some yummy soup, back home to fix that last bit that wasn’t quite working on pg3, skyline still missing from the window but I’ll do that later…, want to get started on the next page.
(for a peak at what those might look like scroll to the right)
first three pages of PIN CITY::
NEW GIG : :
Been a while since I did this last, I’m gonna be inking over 84pages of the classy lines of Goran Parlov on a story penned by Ivan Brandon. A new Terminator book.
A good $ gig, which is always nice...
(this one should give me the time to get a lot of Pin City done, and the first instalment of Dreamlife for serializer).
...But working over Goran’s pencils will also be an amazing paid emersive class in an another storytellers inner-workings. Always good to get to pick the brains of another artist.
:::THE INK TEST
The book will also feature the work of some other pretty big names on cover chores; should be a real romp.
(Addendum: The colours of Paul Mounts are looking pretty eye popping!. (sample image from his work on the Ultimates posted on the Forth Rail).

GREG RUTH :::
Discovered a remarkable artist today, Greg Ruth. A contemporary of mine (literally, he's only a few months younger than me), while reading his bio I found that we traveled in very similar orbits till around the mid 90's when I left the comics biz for a while. A lot of acquaintances in the industry in common, though i suspect he made better use of those associations than i ever did. Just the same I was oblivious to his work till just now. After wandering around his site for more minutes than I could spare when I should be working I had to tear myself away. But I’m posting this here for myself and any others who may find it. Go have a look, you won’t be sorry.

Start the day with a cup of creativity:::
Often when i wake my love a.j. has been up for a few hours. I know that when i go into her study she'll likely be doing something interesting and quite often have found something interesting. Today like many it was web site she's fished out of the either of the net. Today it was the BluePrint Art Projects site, the online work space of a collective of Yugoslavia based artists who survived the war buy escaping the horror through creativity. The site is an html wonderland of gallery spaces that still comes alive once a week as a meeting place for all willing participants (not just those in the former Yugoslavia). Interesting stuff, great way to start the brain, have a look yourself.
Cheers
