Whats up lately
Aside from that I've been neglecting the web stuff a bit and working on the Rise and Fall of it All, you'll see the pencil roughs of the first 47 pages so far there along with a lot of the reference material. I'll be posting some interesting stuff I’ve learned about a group called The Ben Ishmael Tribe, the ancestors of one of our main characters in Rise/Fall. If you’re not familiar with them - I certainly wasn't till recently - you might be interested to know they are a Dead post colonial north American tri-racial nomadic tribal culture, about 1785 to 1905. To give you an idea of how dead we're talking, they only get 47 hits on Google
There's some info on them in those links about them, but mostly I’m looking to pick up a book that features a section on them, Gone to Croatan.
They were likely the first victims (as a people) of organized Eugenics and the way they were exterminated from the Illinois/Indiana area in the late 1800's/early 1900's was researched and used by the Nazis in their final solution.
Aside from getting to know more about them for the Rise and fall of it all, I want to do a bit of digging and tell a silent story about them (no words) that depicts their life style and shows how they clashed with mainstream American society. Also, I'm not sure this will be a factor in the story I do but it also strikes me as ironic and appropriate to talk about them in comics as the most well know (fictional) member of their tribe is possibly Little Orphan Annie who I’ve read speculation was an indentured servant from an Ishmaelite family.
Also cracked a sticking point in Pin City [monster graphic novel I’ve been working on the side for some time, one of two, my first long scripts]
Happy with that, took to long though...
