PIN CITY: a work in progress

PIN CITY is a long silent surrealist narrative that I've been working on for some time. The story idea came to me back around 96 or so, and has been germinating wildly in my mind since. Very unorganized plot at this point so getting it all down in some sort of liner nature is difficult at best. Probably will allow for some jumping around out of necessity, I can rearrange it all later in it's final form. Here's some of the first pages done, from the rough thumbnail stage to semi final art. As i detail on the linked page, this book is on hold till i have time to properly execute a script for it.

More sketching from the last little while

Been trying to get back into the habit of doing this daily. Some success. Not daily yet but...

These are a selection of doodles from the last month or so. Not my best doodle month but a few nice moments. The First image here on the left is from the Montreal POP fest, doodle of the soundman killing my ears. Then there is a portrait done just the other day of my old buddy J.F.Sugerman (currently staying with us for a while), then we have an older sketch that I went bake over with ink and fire, some random drawings of people and a bird, a memory of a homeless guy selling hats in Chicago and a junkie, a skinny Asian guy I saw walking in the plateau Montréal, and the sad looking bartender from a Montréal dive, and finally a cute hipster waving by to her friends.

Sketching at Havre Expuis

I contributed to this project a while back, Havre Expuis: Un Monde Utopique. A 56pg Ecologically themed Jam Comic. A zine version was printed last year and now a really nice looking square bound version with a colour cover was launched on 6th of November [see the flyer for details.]. The launch was cool, wish I’d remembered my camera. But I drew in my sketchbook while a group first sang African Harmony music and then did some fantastic drumming, first three tams then a full drum line ban. Amazing talented group. Had to leave early sadly to get back to work.

Carzy month of Oct

Listening/watching John Berger on The Roland Collection writing this. Interesting fellow I recall watching on TVO when I was a kid. AJ read me some bits from one of his books that sound awfully similar to the place I’ve been going with my own recent bit of musing on visual language. Think I’d like to get my own ideas down first but it will be interesting to check out his thoughts on all that after.

Should have just been working on the Rise and Fall this last month but things went otherwise, for the good mostly but still. The collective I've been trying to help breath life into seems to have taken root, so that was good but the burst of activity was distracting. And there was the Expozing to prepare for, got the latest edition of the Quarterly together just in time for it. That went well, sold 25 or so copies so at the Expo! Not bad at all. You can see a photo essay I created from that day here. Then there was the monthly Jam, and being so busy i didn't get anyone else to take over for me so it was up to me to host. Fun night but drainging, pluse i think i caught a cold. Now finally getting back to Rise and Fall things are going well, but then work...having a regular client is a wonderful thing but just now...well it's only a few days disruption but it makes me grumpy anyway....or maybe that's the cold I’m fighting off. Any way I bitch too much. So I did another little illo for ON magazine this weekend.

Those turned out not to badly I think, hum? *-)

so now, back to work on the book. By the way, any publishers reading this, we're looking for a publisher for the Rise and Fall on it All.
