TCAF

This event is shaping up to be sensational, with plans for it to eventually grow to be as important to the city as arts festivals like the CONTACT photography festival or, proportionately comics:movies, as the Film Festival. We’ve got big plans, and we’re going to need help to accomplish everything.

This is where you come in! The Toronto Comic Arts Festival is looking for volunteers for general assistance with running the festival as well as specific skill sets for key positions within the organization.

Whether you’re just interested in helping out on the days of the event in exchange for free admittance into the events, or working in more challenging roles with art galleries, publishers, in fundraising, with schools, or the media, we want you! And if you don’t live in close physical proximity to the store, no problem!

There’s plenty…and we do mean plenty… of writing to be done. Specifically right now we’re looking to fill two positions:

SHERIDAN COLLEGE LIASON – We’re looking for someone to work with the festival to develop a relationship with Sheridan College, in order to assist in setting up guest-speaker events at the College and facilitate better communication between the faculty/administration and The Festival. Applicant should have demonstratably strong written and verbal communication skills, and ideally is a second- or third-year student at Sheridan College in Oakville in either the illustration or animation streams.

GALLERY COORDINATOR – We are planning a number of gallery showings of comic and comic-related artworks in the month preceeding and following the Toronto Comic Arts Festival. We’re looking for someone who will work with The Festival to implement shows / show ideas, and be the contact person for interested parties organizing their own shows. Applicant should have demonstratably strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience in the Toronto art scene. Previous experience working with artists and illustrators would also be an asset.

Just e-mail mail@beguiling.com with your resume and which position you think you would be great for.

And if you’d still like to help but don’t know how, don’t worry! We will find something for you because believe me, there’s a lot to be done! We truly and sincerely want to make this the best comics-related event Toronto has ever seen, and one of the destination comics events in North America. We need your help to do it! Thanks, The Staff of the Toronto Comic Arts Festival
