There will be a temporary WEEKEND EXHIBITION of the drawings from thebookat the revampedF-52 bookstore/galleryon Sat/Sun November 13-14. Shary Boyle created sixteen mini books between 1997 and 2001. These genre-defyingbookworks helped to fortify her independent artisticvision, which has since catapulted her onto the international stage. The workswere mini stories of major subjects, unfolding in a beautifully pacedsequence of revelations.
Witness My Shamere-presents the majority of thesebookworks as a graphic novel. Each one forms a chapter, a visual story which is partof a larger sequential narrative. In this unique collection, Shary Boylecreates images of childhood and adolescence, exploring issues of power, gender, sexuality, and dysfunction.
Shary Boyle is a multimedia artist whose practiceincludes drawing, painting, sculpture and performance. Constantly travelling, she has set uptemporary studios across North America and Europe, working and exhibiting in Berlin, Paris, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Nova Scotia, Vancouverand the Yukon. Boyle also collaborates with musicians, creating "live" drawings which are animatedand projected onstage alongside their performance.
She has worked with Peaches at the Sonic Youth curated All Tomorrow's Parties festival in Los Angeles and most recently performed with Feist at the Bataclan Theatre in Paris, France.
Shary Boyle was born in Scarborough,Ontario and is now based in Toronto.
