TCAF and Sea of Red 3

So I’ve just finished binding a batch of RevolveRs for TCAF, and I’m now getting my gear together for the big trip.

The schedule for events is up now, you can find it here, I’ll be on the Doug Write nominee panel Saturday at 5:00 @ the Victory Café - fun fun! public speaking, goody [eep].

Not sure where I’ll be sitting but I have a half table somewhere in the main tent with my name on it, look for me, or my mom who will be sting in for me when i go on walkabout. I’ll see all you comics lovers there!

Unfortunately I will not have a stack of Sea of Red comics with me at TCAF, my comps have been taking the scenic route to get to me, I only have 1 copy of #1, and 5 of #2. So if you want me to sign one of those you’ll have to bring your own. I will have orriginal art with me though, and very happy to relive myself of some of it for the right price! Be the first kid on your block to own some Salgood Sam doodls!

Speaking of, previews are online now for #3 here on millarworld, while you’re there let Rick know you love him, he needs all the loving he can get. I could use some to actually.

And lastly, I’m going to go look at a possible new apt, and then I’m off to the Monthly Montreal Comix Jam tonight, @ Sala Rossa [4848 St-Laurent] Starts around 8 PM and you don’t want to miss it cus the long long LONG over due [my fault] MMCJ zine is back with a brand spanking new issue! Only 30 copies! Well, im sure there will be more but that’s all Jane made up for the Jam. It has 28 pages of fun and crazy comix, come early to grab one!

Naked apes work hard but make big messes

Feeding my brain this morning, getting ready to Dive back into the Sea of Red [ Pr aside, dude! Sea of Red 2 sold out in nearly 24 HOURS!. Cool ] listening to Talking Books [CBC Radio One] I caught a unusually frank and refreshingly open conversation about the state of the human condition. Wish I had a link for you to hear the reviewers get their teeth into this, but it lead me to find some links to better. The book on the slate was "A Short History of Progress" by Ronald Wright - how our modern predicament is as old as civilization. I will say upfront that I am biased; this guy is talking about ideas I’ve had and held myself for a long time. A view of humanity and our ability to act as smart as we think we are as a group or individually, and what kind of messes we are rather prone to getting our selves into. I will defiantly be reading this book at some point soon, and his other works sound interesting as well. Here on his publisher’s page , you’ll find a interview with Ronald Wright on CBC Radio One's The Current. And here you can hear the fist of the Massey Lectures, a series of talks he gave broadcast on IDEAS the week of March 28 - April 1. I caught one of them, not sure which, you can buy the on CD if you like apparently, might have to add that to my wish lists for my B-day or something… shit, there I go thinking like a consumer. Still, should read it and i'd like to hear the rest of the lectures… I’ll have to go down to the new library and lend it out! yes, ideas in action.

Been a crazy few weeks. Monthly books are insane. Just about to start issue 4 of Sea of Red, 3 is off getting tucked in. 4 will make a set, and be released as a GN a little later, so if you are one of those who missed out on the monthly, you can catch it then. If your in Montreal, go to LIBRAIRIE MILLENIUM 451 Marie-Anne, I was there a few days ago and they still have lots of copies. I’ll check the other shops here later next week to see how it’s doing elsewhere. Apparently in Toronto and much of the US it’s sold out completely.

Squeezed in an illo gig for my best client, Bert. To grace the pages of a trade mag ->>

Got to get things together this week to prep a run of editions of RevolveR One for TCAF, I’ve sold 300 of the books so far, which given it’s just available via my site here, and a hand full of book shops in Toronto and Montreal, it not bad at all. Really have to find some time to get the distribution stuff done. I know I know…
